September: sports still pays the bills. Macro waits between prints.

The NFL calendar is dense. Fed-week books are not. Mixing the two in one brain is how people overpay the spread.

Kalshi’s public volume mix has been sports-heavy for a long time — on the order of nine dollars in ten, not because politics vanished, but because football turns over every week and a CPI print does not.

That is useful if you actually have an NFL number. It is noise if you opened the app for a rate decision and found yourself clicking a Sunday slate because the book looked alive. Alive is not the same as edge.

Macro between announcements is a limit-order market. Spreads widen. Size shrinks. A market order that felt fine on kickoff Sunday will look expensive on a quiet Tuesday. The fee formula did not change. The depth did.

One account can hold both kinds of contract. One brain usually should not price them in the same sitting. Check the live board; this note is not a season preview and not a rate call.
