Is Kalshi available in Germany?
Yes. Residents of Germany can apply. Settlement is EUR converted into USD; SEPA credit transfer is not a Kalshi checkout.
BaFin licenses German banks, investment firms, and some crypto services. It does not license Kalshi as a German betting shop or BaFin-supervised venue.

Opening from Germany
German applicants typically pass KYC with a Personalausweis or passport plus a Meldebescheinigung-style address proof. The exchange still underwrites you as a foreign customer of a U.S. DCM. A German depot at a Hausbank is not opened and no WpHG suitability test runs on Kalshi’s side.
What Germany pays with at home
Kalshi does not accept SEPA, Giropay, Wero, Sofort, or girocard. Those rails stop at your EUR current account. You convert to dollars through a bank or a licensed EMI, then send a USD wire or use a USD-capable debit card / ZeroHash crypto path the exchange actually lists. A Sparkasse gold card that “works abroad” is still a card-network cash-advance-style top-up, not a German instant-pay checkout.
From EUR in Germany to USD
EUR/USD is the spread that matters. Retail Hausbanken often hide 1–3 percent in the card rate; a separate FX broker plus a USD wire is usually cleaner for size. Do not treat the mid-market pair you see on a phone widget as the rate your Sparkasse will post. Kalshi never quotes EUR.
Hours in Germany (Europe/Berlin (CET/CEST))
Berlin is six hours ahead of Eastern Time in winter and five in summer after both sides change clocks. A 2 p.m. Eastern Fed decision is 20:00 in München in winter. NFL Sunday night games start near Monday 01:00 CEST — positions can expire while Germany is asleep.
Tax from Germany — we will not pick a rate
Abgeltungsteuer and Solidaritätszuschlag are well-defined for German bankable securities. USD event contracts on a U.S. DCM are not a listed Xetra share. The Finanzamt will still want a record of profit in EUR. A Teilfreistellung or a 25 percent withholding figure copied from a depot statement would be the wrong stencil. A Steuerberater who handles foreign-broker statements is the right reader of your CSV.
