Opening from Norway

A fødselsnummer and a Norwegian passport or BankID-ready ID will satisfy most KYC reviews. Vipps identity is not reused. No VPS account is created. The Member Agreement you click is still New York–law DCM paper, not a DNB custody mandate.

What Norway pays with at home

Vipps is how Norway pays friends and shops — not how it funds Kalshi. Domestic kroner transfers stop at your bank. Buy USD at the foreign desk, then push a SWIFT or a card the exchange actually lists. A Vipps request from a stranger “for Kalshi margin” is fraud, full stop.

From NOK in Norway to USD

USD/NOK moves with oil headlines; retail spreads at DNB, Nordea, and Sparebank 1 are still a cost on small tickets. Kalshi does not run an NOK wallet. Convert on a proper FX ticket, then send dollars — do not hope the receiving bank invents a kroner ledger.

Hours in Norway (Europe/Oslo (CET/CEST))

Oslo shares CET/CEST with Stockholm. Polar winter daylight does not change the ET settlement clock. Late American sports expire after midnight on Karl Johans gate; a limit working while you sleep is safer than a market order at 01:40.

Tax from Norway — we will not pick a rate

Norwegian residents report worldwide income to Skatteetaten. Aksjesparekonto treatment does not extend to a U.S. DCM by default. A revisor or skatterådgiver should classify the dollar result. StartKalshi will not pick a sats or treat this like a Norsk Tipping win slip.

The board you receive is Kalshi’s American event catalogue, not Norsk Tipping offerings and not Oslo Børs listed options.
